More and more users are using Windows 7. How do we set the connection between office and home networks? Here we will explain in detail.

Whether at home or in the office, the Internet has become essential. Once upon a time, the value of a computer was limited to an independent machine that could run various applications. If you cannot connect to the Internet, you cannot receive emails, send instant messages, or share files and software, your computer is just a valuable town-paper machine.

Obviously, the current trend is already in favor of remote and mobile operations. The operating system should provide necessary tools for such operations to maintain network connections.

Microsoft has added many new network functions in Windows 7, which simplify network connections and help users connect to network resources anytime, anywhere. Here, we will learn more about the innovative network features in Windows 7.

Home Group

Let's take a look at an improvement for home users and Home Office users: Microsoft proposed the concept of home group in Windows 7. The home group function mainly serves two purposes: one is to make it easier to share files and resources in the home network, and the other is to protect shared files and resources from interference by guests or wireless network users.

Many families have multiple computers installed. These users want to share music and pictures at home, or even the entire network. The local networking method like this has been in existence for many years, but it is easy to say and difficult to do. Many users have encountered thorny problems in practical applications.

Open the home group from the control panel. Select create a home group and start the process. Complete the dialog box as needed to select the file type that you want to share with others through the family group.

Click Next. After the family group is created, a password is automatically generated for Windows 7. Other users must enter the password to join the family group for resource sharing. Windows 7 Starter and Windows 7 Home Basic cannot create a Home group, but any computer running Windows 7 can be added to the Home group. One disadvantage of the family group concept is that it is only available to Windows 7 users, so XP or Vista systems in other families cannot be added to the family group.

Family groups simplify the process of sharing files, folders, and other network resources in the home network. At the same time, it also allows visitors to connect to the wireless network to access the Internet, avoiding the embarrassment of authorizing guests to access shared resources. In addition, the home group prohibits unauthorized wireless connections from accessing shared resources of the home group.
