The importance of operating system backup believe that everyone is self-evident, as the new operating system, Win 7 in the backup system, what is the change of human nature? Today I'm going to take a look at Windows 7 system backup and what's new with Windows XP or Vista.

Backup, restore is always a key component in the system. In Vista, the system backup, restore function has been strengthened. So what are the backup and restore scenarios that are available in Windows7? This article will have a experience with you in this regard.

1, the use of "System Restore" easy to return to the soul

System Restore is a standard system feature that becomes the core component of the system from the beginning of Windows Me. With the upgrade of the system, this function is more perfect. Win7 's System Restore capability is significantly improved compared to previous systems.

Right-click Computer to select Properties on the desktop to enter the system page of Control Panel, click the System Protection link in the left pane to go to the System Restore Settings window.

(1). Division and combination of system setup and file version reduction

For Windows7, System Restore includes restoration of system settings and restoration of text versions, which we normally call the system environment and shadow copies. Typically, Win7 only has system protection enabled on the system partition, and includes both System Restore and file version restore. However, in Win7, System Restore and file version restore can be separated. It is common practice to turn on System Restore and file version recovery at the same time in the system partition, and only the file version restore on other partitions. This can not only improve system performance, but also save disk space. It is set up by selecting the partition that you want to set up in the System Protection tab and clicking the Configure button to enter the configuration page. You can see that there are three options under Restore settings: Selecting the first item, "Restoring system settings and previous versions of files," opens the System Restore and shadow copies of the partition, and the second item, "Restore only previous versions of files", turns on only the shadow copy feature of the partition; Select the third "Turn off system protection" The two features are turned off in the partition.

(2). Manually create a restore point

After you turn on System Restore for a partition, the system partition will set up a restore point for the system at intervals (by default, once a day), or establish a restore point when the system installs the application software and drivers. For other non-system partitions, only the shadow copy feature is turned on, and a shadow copy of the file is created when the file in that partition is modified. Note that when you set up protection for a partition, you first need to create a restore point for that partition, so that System Restore is available for System Restore or file recovery. The way to create a restore point is very simple, and clicking the Create button on the System Protection tab will bring up the Create Restore Point Wizard, which completes the creation of the restore point in accordance with the wizard.

(3). The way of System Restore

In general, System Restore is a necessity. Usually when a software is installed, driven by the software conflict, the system is unstable or even crash when adopted. As far as Win7 is concerned, there are two ways to restore the system: In the System Properties window when you can access the system, click the System Protection tab to first select the system partition you want to restore, and then click the System Restore button to start the System Restore Wizard.

Select a recent restore point to complete the System Restore process based on the wizard. For a restore of the file version, right-click on the file to select Restore previous versions, and then select a version from the list of file versions to restore or copy.

Sometimes system failures are more serious and you cannot start System Restore in normal mode. At this point we can try to enter Safe mode to start System Restore, if the security mode is not entered we can choose from the System Recovery options console to select System Restore offline for System Restore. Hold down the F8 key at system startup to enter the advanced Boot Options menu, select Repair Computer, and enter the system Recovery options console. In this process, you need to select a user and enter a password to log in. Select and click "System Restore" to launch the System Restore Wizard, which is the same as in normal mode. In addition, run "Startup Repair" to initiate system repair, and run system image Recovery to recover from a backed up system image. What needs to be explained is that Vista can also achieve "System Restore" offline, but it needs to use the Vista system Setup disk to boot the system into the System Recovery options console. There is no need to install the disk in the Windows7, because Win7 has integrated it into the system.

2, free customization of "Backup and Restore"

Windows7 's "Backup and Restore" feature the biggest improvement compared to Vista's similar functionality is the addition of new choices that allow us to freely customize and control system backups. Perform "Control Panel" → "All Control Panel items" → "Backup and restore" to enter the Win7 "Backup and Restore" center, where we can complete the system backup and restore is all operation.

(1). System backup

After the Windows7 installation is complete, it is necessary to make a copy of Windows Backup, which is necessary for system recovery and migration. In the backup and Restore center, click the "Set up Backup" link to launch the Widnows System Backup Wizard. We can save the backup in any local, non-system partition with enough space, and of course it can be saved to a network location, such as a file server. Enter its UNC address in the network location, along with network credentials such as its user name, password, and so on. If you want to save it locally, it is best to save it in a partition on another hard disk in your local area. For backup content, Win7 saves data in all users ' libraries, desktops, and Windows folders by default, and also creates a system image. Of course, some backup items are not what we need, so we can customize what we want to back up in Figure 5. Here we can check what we want to keep (such as the library, the user-related content in the system disk, and the application information, etc.), and remove the hook in front of the system image including drive system Reserved (C:) If you do not need to save the system image.

It is important to note that after customizing the complete task, the system will perform a backup plan by default at 19:00 per Sunday, which is easily overlooked by some administrators. Once someone set up a backup task and did not modify the default backup plan, since the system was backed up, in fact, the system is not even a backup of the implementation, because his PC in Sunday 19:00 o ' run. In this respect, we can modify according to our own needs, and generally set the backup to a relatively idle time period of the workday. In addition, we can set the frequency of system backup, for system security requirements are relatively high can be set to perform a daily backup. When the Windows Backup settings are complete, click on the "Enable Schedule" button and the system will perform the backup according to the schedule you have set. Of course, we can also perform "Back Up Now" or change the backup schedule.

(2). System Restore

In general, when the system is wrong, unstable, or reinstall System Migration User Configuration, we can quickly restore or migrate the system configuration through the "Restore" function. Enter the backup and Restore center of Windows7, where users can restore from backup as needed. For example, you can restore only my files, or you can restore all users ' files. In addition, we can restore from other backups. Of course, if you have previously done a backup of the system image, you can perform a restore of the entire system. Click the "Restore system settings or computer" link to enter the System Recovery window and click the "Advanced Recovery Method" link to enter the Advanced Recovery Method window. Here, there are two ways to restore the choice: one is to restore the computer with an image, provided that the system image has been created before, and the second is to reinstall the system with the WIN7 installation disk and restore our files from backup. These two methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, you can choose according to the needs.

3, system integration of system imaging tools

(1). "System Image Backup"

There is no doubt that system image backups are the most thorough backup of Windows system backups, which is one of the tasks that a system administrator must do. In fact, the system image backup is not only based on the preparedness of the consideration, but also in order to facilitate rapid deployment of the system in the LAN needs. A dedicated system image backup tool is provided in Windows7, so we do not need third-party tools to easily make backup of the system image.

Also, in the Windows7 Backup and Restore Center window, click the Create System Image link in the left pane to launch the Create System Image Wizard. Similarly, for security reasons, it is not recommended to keep the system image on the same disk as the system, because if the disk fails, the system will not be able to recover from the image. Based on this consideration, you can save the system image to a DVD disk or to a location on the network.

(2). Straws "System repair disc"

System errors and even crashes are unavoidable, there is a repair disc can often bring the system back to life, in Windows7 we can use the tools provided by the system to create a system repair disc. In the Backup and Restore Center window of Win7, click the Create System repair CD link in the left pane to launch the Create System Repair Disc Wizard, which allows you to easily create a system repair Disk by using the wizard. You can see that there are two key files on the disc, Winre.wim and BOOT.SDI, responsible for booting and repairing the system. Using the system repair disc to boot the system its final effect is exactly the same as the Win7 system fix. However, the system repair disc is used more widely. When you can't even repair a computer, the repair disc will come in handy. In addition, this "system repair CD" can be used for booting and repairing Vsita systems.

4, a powerful system packaging tool DISM

System encapsulation of course also belongs to the category of system backup and restore. In Windows7, DISM replaces ImageX as the new System Encapsulation tool. Let's look at the application of DISM in System image operations.

DISM is a new tool that is unfamiliar to most users, and you can enter the command "DISM/?" at the command line. can get its parameters and examples.

First, we can use DISM to get the system version information in the image and execute the command "Dism/get-wininfo/wimfile:c:testimagesinstall.wim". Where Install.wim is the WINDOWS7 installation package, the Get-wininfo parameter is used to obtain encapsulation information.

Second, the DISM command allows us to mount the system image in any directory, with the command "Dism/mount-win/wimfile:c:testimagesinstall.wim/index:4/mountdir:c: Testservicing "perform" Dism/get-mountedwiminfo to get mount DISM image information. Use the Dism/image and/online parameters to implement operations to mount the system image to DISM. For example, execute command "Dism/image:c:testservicing/add-driver/driver:c:testdriversux6000vx60000.inf" to add a new drive to the target system image, execute the command "DISM/ Image:c:testservicing/get-drivers "View driver information.

If you want to uninstall the DISM image to perform the "Dism/unmount-win/mountdir:c:testservicing/discard" command. In addition, perform "dism/image:c:testservicing/get-intl" to get the language information that the current image belongs to. "DISM/IMAGE:C:TESTSERVICING/SET-UILANG:ZH-CN" is to set the system language to Chinese, "Dism/image:c:testservicing/set-timezone:" Standard time "" is to set system times for China standard Time. The use of DISM is complex and is used flexibly to implement various operations on the system image.

Summary: Windows7 provides us with a powerful system backup and Restore tool, in fact, these tools in the functional is not a multiple choice, but complementary and complementary. In the actual combat, we should be in accordance with the needs of ingenious collocation, so that their respective play the director, to ensure that our data, system security.
