Windows 7/8/8.1 hard disk installation method for ubuntu 14.04 dual system, ubuntu14.04

I. Software preparation

1. Download Ubuntu system image: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop;

Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS 64bit is used here. LTS indicates Long Term Support, which is supported for a Long time.

2. Download and install DiskGenius: http://www.diskgenius.cn/download.php;

Use DiskGenius for disk operations.

3. Download and install EasyBCD: http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/; here EasyBCD is used for boot processing. BTW and EasyBCD are free of charge for personal use. However, you must purchase a genuine edition for commercial use.

Ii. Operation preparation 1. In DiskGenius, select a disk partition to process the Ubuntu installation partition, right-click the target partition, and select "delete current partition ", in the displayed window, click "Yes (Y)", click "Save changes" in the upper left corner, and select "Yes (Y)" in the confirmation window )". Keep the undefined status of the target partition.

Note:

The Linux target disk is preferably behind the hard disk, because the Ext4 partition of Linux cannot be identified in Windows. For example, if you install Linux on the d disk between drive C and drive E, after a Linux partition is created after disk D is deleted, the drive letter of the disk after disk D is replaced by D. The software installed on the edisk may fail to run due to incorrect system registry path.

If there are a large number of files on each disk in your machine that are not easy to format, in DiskGenius, you can use the "Adjust partition size" function to pull a partition from a disk with a relatively large free space. The specific operation is: Right-click the target disk, click "Adjust partition size", and then perform the corresponding operation.

2. Copy the downloaded iso system to the root directory of the C drive (hd0, 0) of the current system, and run vmlinuz In the casper folder of iso. efi and initrd. the two lz files are also extracted to the root directory of drive C (hd0, 0) (this can be opened using WinRAR ).

3. Enable EasyBCD. For example, click "Add new entry"> "NeoGrub"> "Install" by sequence number in the figure ".

After clicking "Install", a NeoGrub Bootloader will be installed on the system, and something will be written to the system root directory.

When the message "NeoGrub boot loader has been successfully added to the boot menu" appears, click "Configure ".

Click "configuration". A notepad file is displayed, which is essentially menu. lst. Menu. lst is the menu interface setting file started by the DOS tool. You can use menu. lst to configure Linux boot and boot, or to boot a Linux system that has been installed.

Add the following code to menu. lst:

1 title Install Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS x642 root (hd0,0)3 kernel (hd0,0)/vmlinuz.efi boot=casper iso-scan/filename=/ubuntu-14.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso ro quiet splash locale=zh_CN.UTF-84 initrd (hd0,0)/initrd.lz

Note:

The format of menu. lst generally has four rows:

-- Title xxxxx
Title line: menu options displayed after bootloader is imported. The title must be retained. It is the tag of grub syntax and can be written after the title, which can be customized.

-- Root (hd [n-1], M-1])
Root line: Start with root, and then add a space with a partition name (hd [n-1], M-1]). Indicates the absolute paths of iso, vmlinuz. efi, and initrd. lz.

-- Kernel (hd [n-1], M-1])/xxxxx

Kernel line: Start with kernel, add a space, and then specify vmlinuz. efi file storage path. The command line is used to tell the computer to start the kernel in the linux directory under the (hd [n-1], [M-1]) partition. Ro indicates read-only. The iso file after filename must be named the same as the target iso file.

-- Initrd (hd [n-1], [M-1])/xxxxx

Initrd line: similar to the kernel line, it is used to specify the partition and directory in which the installed file is stored, that is, the installation directory of the specified file after the command.

Now, all preparations are OK!

3. Restart the installation process. Select the NeoGrub boot loader.

After you see the GRUB4DOS interface, select "Install Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS", that is, the title line of the Code in menu. lst above. Go to the Ubuntu Desktop. The left side of the desktop is the Dock bar, and the top is the status bar. There is an "installation" and an "instance" on the desktop ". Do not worry about installation.

Press Ctrl + Alt + T to open the terminal window (you can also click the button in the upper left corner to open Dash and enter terminal ).

Enter the following command in the terminal and press enter to execute the command. This command is used to uninstall the isodevice optical drive partition when the hard disk is installed on ubuntu. Otherwise, a mount error occurs. If no prompt is displayed, the task is completed.

1 sudo umount -l /isodevice/

After the preceding steps are completed, double-click the "Install ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS" icon on the desktop. After loading for a moment, a welcome page is displayed. "Chinese (simplified)" is automatically selected on the left panel. If not, you can select a system language based on your preferred language. Click "continue" in the lower right corner ".

Check network conditions. We recommend that you select "I don't want to connect to wifi now ". The Network disconnection status is maintained to prevent the installation of a large number of unnecessary updates during the installation process.

Check the installation environment. Sufficient space is required. The laptop is connected to the power supply and the network is disconnected. Third-party plug-ins can be installed or not. Click "continue ".

Next, ask about the installation type. To install the dual-system, You must select "other options". Do not select "coexistence" as the meaning of the word ".

Next, enter the disk "partition. Here, the Ubuntu partition is the undefined partition (display "idle" status) that we vacated above ). The above "partition" is enclosed in quotation marks, because in Linux systems, there is no hard disk partition concept. In Linux, the file concept is replaced, which is essentially different from that in Windows.

Note:

Other mount points are not expanded here.

  • Linux disk name

In Linux, disk devices are all named after folders and mounted to the/dev Device directory.

  • Common mount point settings
  • Double-click to display idle devices. In the displayed "create partition" dialog box, enter the size, select the partition type, partition location, and file system and mount point. The sequence of partition mount points can be changed. However, after a primary partition is configured, the system will follow the default sequence for the primary partition, but the logic partition will not. We recommend that you set all to logical partitions.

After the settings, return to the installation type window and check the device installation status of each partition and boot guide.

If no error occurs, click "Install now ". If swap partition is not divided, a prompt is displayed, such as clicking "continue.

Next, go to the installation process and select the time zone and keyboard layout.

Set the name, computer name, user name, and password. The password here will be used as the password for entering the system, and also as the authorization password. We do not recommend that you use a long password to avoid the trouble of entering the password every time you use sudo or other permission escalation commands.

After all the preceding settings are complete, the installation is silent.

After the installation is complete, the system prompts you to restart. Installation is complete.
