Knowledge Point Analysis:

Windows updates are configured when the computer is powered on to the Windows 8 system, but always updated to a percentage of the prompts "Configure Windows Update failed, restoring changes", and then the system restarts. What should we do about this?

  Operation Steps:

First, after entering the system, click on the "Control Panel"---"System and Security"----"Windows Update"---"View update history", where you can find previously failed updates. As shown in figure:

It appears that these failed updates cause the "Configure Windows Update failed and the changes are being restored" every time the boot is turned on. So we're going to remove the updates that were not successfully installed and have the system download and install the updates, which is to remove the temporary files that Windows uses to identify computer updates.

You will need to deactivate the Windows Update Service before deleting the update temporary file, otherwise you cannot delete it. The specific method of operation is as follows:

1, press Win + X shortcut button to call the shortcut menu, click "Computer Management";

2. Find the "service" option on the left side of the Open Computer Management window;

3, and then in the right window to find the Windows Update Service, right, stop, stop Windows Update Service;

4. Delete the path in turn

All documents under X:windowssoftwaredistributiondatastore and E:windowssoftwaredistributiondownload;

5, restart the Windows Update Service, into the "Control Panel system and secure Windows Update";

6, click on the left "check Update", and then patiently wait for the system to check the update is complete, you will see that there are important updates available, as shown in the figure:

7, click "Important update Available", will open the "Select the Update to install" window, the default has been selected all updates;

8, click on the bottom of the "Install" button to install these updates can be. As shown in figure:

After you install the update, you will also be asked to reboot your computer to complete the installation and configuration of the update, and if it goes well, you will be able to configure Windows updates successfully after the system restarts.

Note:

Tip: If you still receive the "Configure Windows Update failed to restore changes" prompt, some factors may be affecting the installation and configuration of Windows updates, initially suspected to be a security software issue, and you can uninstall the installed Third-party security software and try again.
