Cloud computing model and selection

In previous courses, we have already introduced Windows Azure to provide three types of cloud computing services: Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS ), software as a service (SaaS ).

1. Configure the image. Note that the password is an important credential for you to log on as the Virtual Machine administrator. For existing applications, You can migrate existing workloads to the cloud. The best choice is IaaS.

2. To better adapt to the structure of cloud computing, you can develop new custom applications based on the PaaS platform. Direct development on the PaaS platform can focus more on business and development agility. You can directly use various interfaces or intermediate key services provided by the platform.

3. SaaS is a packaged service placed on the cloud. On Azure, we provide some packaged website services, such as blog websites and e-commerce websites.

   Of course, in actual use, you can choose services based on your actual needs: for example, you can use IaaS to migrate and host your existing services, at the same time, choose to develop new functions and applications on the PaaS platform.

   Virtual Machine services belong to the scope of IaaS. Next we will introduce them in detail.

   First Virtual Machine contact

   Microsoft Azure provides a variety of Virtual Machine environments. The most direct way is to implement self-help management through the Azure Management Portal; for old Microsoft friends, you can use the Powershell script interface for management; do not worry about multiple systems, you can use command lines to manage Windows, Linux, or Mac. You can use scripts to manage large-scale hosted environments.

   We also provide a variety of image options, including CentOS, Suse, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8 Server, and Ubuntu.

   First Virtual service experience

   First, log on to your management portal http://manage.windowsazure.cn through this link and log on to your account. On our website, you can find detailed descriptions of five different subscription methods and corresponding configurations, payment methods, and rates.

   In the setting options, you can manage user permissions under different subscriptions as an administrator. On the left-side menu bar, you can access and configure all services under your account. Click Virtual Machine to create and manage your virtual machine. The most convenient way is to select quick creation: Enter the DNS name in sequence, and create a user name and password for your virtual machine for management. Finally, Click create virtual machine. Configure the image. Note that the password is an important credential for you to log on as the Virtual Machine administrator. Then, the computer automatically downloads an rdp file, double-click it, and enter the account information you just set to log on to the virtual machine.

    

After a short wait, you will successfully enter the virtual machine environment deployed on Azure.

Virtual Machine size and workload

The following types are available based on the requirements of different workloads. Compared with the standard, the benchmark instance does not provide load balancing, so it is mainly used for testing. High-memory instances are suitable for high-specification loads with high memory requirements, and the corresponding prices are also high.
