Manually configure your client: Open Outlook or Outlook Express. Click the Tools menu, and then select Account .... Click Add, and then click Mail ... Type your name in the Display name: field, and then click Next. Enter your full Gmail e-mail address (username@gmail.com) in the "E-mail address:" field, and then click Next. In the Receive mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server: field, enter "Pop.gmail.com". In the outgoing mail server (SMTP): field, enter "Smtp.gmail.com". Click "Next". In the Account name: field, enter your Gmail username (including "@gmail. com"). In the Password: field, enter your Gmail password, and then click Next. Click Finish. Highlight pop.gmail.com under Accounts, and click Properties. Click the Advanced tab. Select the check box next to this server requires secure connection (SSL) under Send mail (SMTP). In the Send Mail (SMTP): field, enter "465". Select the check box next to this server requires secure connection (SSL) under Receive mail (POP3). This port will be changed to 995. * The order of "send" and "Receive" mail server fields varies by version. Make sure that you have entered the correct information in each field. Click the Server tab, and then select the check box next to my server requirements authentication. Click OK. How to enable Gmail POPs. You can use a POP-enabled client or device, such as Microsoft Outlook or Netscape mail, to retrieve your Gmail messages. To enable POP in your Gmail account, follow these steps: Log in to your Gmail account. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page. Click Forward and POP in the Orange Mail settings box. Select Enable Pop for all messages or enable POP for messages that start receiving from now. Choose how you want to handle messages after you use POP to access your Gmail messages. Configure your POP client * and click Save Changes.
