Windows Me disc Installation Process

I. preparations:

1. Prepare the Windows Me Simplified Chinese version of the installation disc, and check whether the optical drive supports auto-start.
2. if possible, use the disk scan program to scan all hard disks to check hard disk errors and fix them before running the installer. Otherwise, it will be troublesome to check hard disk errors during the installation process.
3. Record the product key (installation serial number) of the Installation File with paper ).
4. if possible, use a driver backup tool (for example, driver genie 2004 V1.9 Beta.exe) to back up all drivers in the original Windows Me to the hard disk (for example, F: \ Drive ). It is best to write down the model and manufacturer of the main hardware such as the motherboard, Nic, and video card, and download the driver for backup in advance.
5. If you want to format disk C or disk D during installation (we recommend that you format disk C during installation), back up the useful data of disk C or disk D.
6. There must be active partitions in the format of FAT or FAT32 File System. Windows Me can only be installed in partitions in the format of FAT or FAT32 file system. We recommend that the partition space be greater than 2 GB.

Ii. Start the system with a CD:
(If you already know how to do this, go to the next step.) Place the Me installation disc into the optical drive, restart the system, set the optical drive to the first boot disk, save the settings, and restart, you can see the installation interface without accident. 3. Install Windows ME
After the disc is automatically started, the startup interface will be displayed if there is no accident, as shown in Figure 1. If the disc cannot be automatically started, start it with a Me or 98 boot floppy disk (set the disk as the first boot disk ).

The first option is to start the Me installer from the CD; if you want to format the c drive, you can choose the third or second option to enter the DOS to run "format c:", format the c drive, and then restart the installer; if you start a floppy disk with Me, no first option in Figure 1 is available. The first item is automatically started 30 seconds by default, as shown in figure 2.

The installation program is preparing the Installation Wizard. Next, as shown in figure 3.

Click "Next" to display the welcome screen, as shown in figure 4.

There is no choice for the license agreement. After "accept agreement" is selected, the "Next" button changes from Gray to operable. Click "Next", as shown in Figure 5.

If you haven't written down the product key (installation serial number) in advance, it's a big deal! Enter the installation serial number here, and click "Next", as shown in figure 6.

Select the partition and directory used for installation. The default value is C: \ WINDOWS. Click "Next", as shown in figure 7.

Select the installation type. Generally, select "typical". Click "Next", as shown in figure 10.

In the name column, enter the username used to log on to the system, which is customized by the company. Click "Next", as shown in Figure 11.

Click "Next", as shown in Figure 12.

By default, all the preceding options are automatically entered and changed if necessary. Click "Next", as shown in Figure 13.

Select "China" by default, and click "Next", as shown in figure 14

By default, select "Beijing time" and click "Next", as shown in Figure 15.

If this is the first time you install Me or do not have a boot floppy disk, we recommend that you create an "Me boot disk" here to facilitate system maintenance in the future and put the blank floppy disk with write protection removed into the soft drive, click "OK" to start production. "If you do not want to create a Windows Me boot disk, click" OK "and click" cancel "in the pop-up window. After the Windows Me boot disk is created, it appears as 16

The Installation Wizard is now complete. Click "finish" to officially install the system, as shown in figure 17

The installation process takes a long time, but you do not need to participate. Please stop copying the file and when the system restarts automatically, set the hard disk as the first boot disk or temporarily remove the disc (or boot a floppy disk) when the disk is restarted for the first time. After the disk is restarted for the first time, the system will not restart the installation program again. The Me startup screen will appear for the first time after the restart, as shown in 18

Start to install the hardware and complete the settings. Then, 19 is displayed, as shown in Figure 19.

The User Logon page appears. If you do not set a password, click OK to enter. The first entry into the system takes a long time, and then appears as 20

This is the introduction video of Windows Me, which runs only when you first enter the system. If you can hear the sound, it indicates that your sound card driver has been installed. After the introduction screen is complete, it will appear, as shown in 22.

Oh! The system is started successfully.

4. What should be done after the system is installed:
Check whether the hard drive installation is complete. Install the motherboard driver ...... upgrade the system, install anti-virus software, install applications, establish Internet connections, and optimize the system.
