1. Copy the Nanoserverimagegenerator folder from the \nanoserver folder in Windows Server ISO to the folder on your hard disk.

2. Start Windows PowerShell as an administrator, change the directory to the folder where the Nanoserverimagegenerator folder is located, and then import the module by Import-module. \ Nanoserverimagegenerator-verbose

3. Create a standard version VHD that sets the computer name and includes the Hyper-V guest driver by running the following command, which prompts you to enter the administrator password for the new VHD:

New-nanoserverimage-edition Standard-deploymenttype Guest-mediapath <path to root of media>-BasePath. \base-tar GetPath. \nanoservervm\nanoservervm.vhd-computername <computer name> which

-mediapath < media root path > Specifies the root path that points to the Windows Server ISO content. For example, if you have copied the contents of the ISO to D:\TP5ISO, the path will be used.

-basepath (optional) specifies the folder to be created to copy the Nano Server WIM and package to.

-TARGETPATH specifies the path in which the generated VHD or VHDX will be created, including the file name and extension.

COMPUTER_NAME Specifies the computer name of the Nano Server virtual machine that is being created.

Attention

New-nanoserverimage is supported for Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server R2, and Windows Server 2016.

Create a base and Nano1 folder to hold temp and VHD files.

4. In Hyper-V Manager, create a new virtual machine and use the VHD that you created in step 3.

5. Start the virtual machine, and then connect to the virtual machine in Hyper-V manager.

6. Log in to the Recovery Console using the Administrator account and password that you provided when you ran the script in step 3.

7. Obtain the IP address of the Nano Server virtual machine and use Windows PowerShell remoting or other remote administration tools to connect to and remotely administer the virtual machine.
