After Windows Vista beta1 was officially released yesterday, Microsoft finally published the Windows Vista hardware guide on its official homepage:
CPU)
At present, all intel or AMD processors above the middle end can meet the basic requirements of Windows Vista. Low-end processors can also run Vista, but may not achieve the best results, obviously, they are not competent in high-end games and video editing. Both AMD and Intel have released dual-core processors, which will be an outstanding choice for Windows Vista. In terms of 64-bit high-end fields, AMD and Intel 64-bit processors are a good choice. They are all excellent combinations of Windows Vista.
Memory
To better use the advanced features of Windows Vista, you need at least MB of memory, which can support system running and general software running requirements. Since the current memory usage of many games is close to 512 MB, it is recommended that Windows Vista users have 1 GB or more of memory. If your usual software applications require high hardware requirements, you 'd better determine that there is room for new systems to increase memory space.
Graphics card
The Windows Vista Screen is quite gorgeous, but you can also set the Vista requirement to be equal to that of Windows XP. If you want to experience all the effects of Windows Vista, you must have a powerful graphics card. First, you must avoid using the current low-end GPU, ensure that your graphics card supports DirectX 9, at least 64 MB of memory. It is recommended to include an independent PCI Express or APG graphics card. If you choose to use an integrated display chip system, make sure that the system has a PCI Express/AGP slot, which is for easy upgrade.
Storage hardware
The larger the hard disk, the better. Given that the hard disk is the bottleneck of the current PC speed, selecting a high-speed hard disk can significantly improve the performance. We recommend that you consider SATA hard disks with at least 8 MB of cache and support ncq technology. A dvd drive with both read and write capabilities is very important.
Network
Ensure that your PC has the latest network compatibility. For laptops, 802.11 Wireless Networks are required, and at least MB of bandwidth is required for home pcs. Adding a wireless network to a PC brings you more mobility and makes it easier to connect to a laptop.
Summary
To sum up, you do not have to choose the most advanced system for Windows Vista, but you have to select at least a mid-range computer system, and leave room for upgrade.
Another: Before Windows Vista is released, we reserve the right to change the above suggestions.
