Windows XP Fax Features

Don't forget the modem is a device that converts digital signals to analog signals. It and the basic work of the fax machine is actually the same, but the fax machine than the modem more than a "scanner" and "printer" function. So can we turn the modem into a fax machine? Absolutely, like Windows XP provides us with a very sophisticated fax function, we can turn the modem to become a network fax machine.

Set up a fax machine

The first thing to note is that if you are still using modem Internet, then there is no need to set up anything; If you do not use the modem to surf the internet, then just like the previous dial-up Internet to add it again, and here is no more said. Next let's take a look at how to set up a fax. There is no fax machine in the default installation of Windows XP, so we have to add a fax machine, click "Start" → "printers and Faxes", we will see the "Printers and Faxes" dialog box, as shown in the following figure, click Set Fax.

After installation, we can see an icon named "Fax" in the "Printers and Faxes" dialog box. Double-click the icon and we'll see the Fax Configuration Wizard, click Next, and we'll set up the fax number, email, phone number, and so on sender information, as shown in the following figure.

Click Next to preview the effect of the fax, and then click Finish when you are satisfied and complete the Send Fax Wizard.

The computer will start sending faxes through your modem, and the "Fax Monitor" dialog will automatically bounce out, as shown in the following figure.

At this point, the whole process of sending a fax is over, need to specifically note that the "Fax First page template" mentioned above, Windows XP has provided us with four templates, of course, we can also design the template, in the Fax Console interface, click the "tools" → "personal Home" → "new", You can design the first page of the fax template.

Receive faxes

Windows XP also prepares us for the ability to receive faxes, we only need in the Fax console, click "File" → "receive fax immediately", you can receive your fax, in the Fax console in the inbox you can read the fax just received, as shown in the following figure.

How to use Windows XP to receive and send faxes is very convenient! In fact, as early as Windows 95 o'clock, Microsoft has provided us with the fax function. For some reason, this feature is not available in Windows 98. Fortunately, Windows XP picked up the feature again. And the function and stability have been greatly improved, so that our modem and glow of youth. Modem is a digital signal and analog signals to transform the device, the computer's fax function is to use the modem this feature to achieve the sending and receiving faxes. If your computer is equipped with a scanner and printer, it will be a real fax machine.

When you have completed, click Next, and we have finished configuring the fax, click Finish. Windows will now pop up the Fax Console dialog box, which is similar to the Outlook interface and is used similarly. As shown in the following figure.

Send Fax

When you have finished setting up your fax machine, you are ready to send your fax. First click file → send fax, and we'll see the Fax Send Wizard dialog box, as shown in the following figure.

Click Next to fill in the recipient's information, including the recipient's name and fax number, and then click Add, as shown in the following illustration.

When completed, click Next. The "Prepare Home" dialog will appear, in which we will set up the first page format and information, Windows XP provides us with four templates, we can easily follow the template format to design our fax, click "Sender Information", Fill out some personal information you think you need, other columns we just fill in according to the prompts, as shown in the following figure.
