Environment: Windows XP
Database: Oracle9i
Question one:
The first time you install Oracle9i on Windows XP, you encounter the following error:
"You may not have the appropriate permissions to establish the directory or the disk has no space to build the directory C:\ ..."
At that time, my C disk has 4G space, God! Is this a mistake? After careful analysis, I think the temporary folder path is too long, once installed oracle8i through the network seems to have encountered such a mistake. So I made the following modifications:
1 Right-click My Computer--〉 advanced--〉 environment variable
2 Change the TEMP and TMP values to C:\Temp
Question two:
The second time in the installation of Windows XP Oracle9i, and encountered such a mistake, this time to the environment variable TEMP and TMP value to C:\Temp, or not, carefully see the error and the first time a little different, the specific contents are as follows:
"Error in writing to directory C:\temp\OraInstall, please ensure this directory is writable and has atleast MB of disk Space. Installation cannot countinue. "
This mistake is really a joke with me! The folder is writable and must have 25M of free space. Is my machine so bad? What about this time? Modify user permissions, change the temporary folder path ... and try everything. Finally, I finally thought, is not my notebook CD-ROM drive too bad, so mapped a desktop CD-ROM drive, really good.
