window| XP installation For more than a year, recently found that the system has slowed down significantly, using a lot of optimization software, uninstall installed software is useless. In order to find out the crux of the problem, the author first looked at the Windows XP area of disk space, found that a lot of space occupied by the folder. The author then went into Windows folder to see if there are any strange files, see the "Windows\prefetch" folder (that is, Windows read-only folder), found that there are hundreds of PF for the extension of the file, can not help the heart of a move: Is it the problem? Try to empty the inside of the file, restart the computer, found that the system is running at a normal speed!

Originally, the Read-only settings can improve the speed of the system, but after a period of time, the files in the read-only folder will become a lot of time, resulting in the system searching for longer. And some applications generate dead link files, adding to the burden of system search. Therefore, we should periodically delete these pre read files.

Of course, Windows XP also allows us to set the pre Read object. To do this: Open Registry Editor, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory management\ Prefetchparameters Branch, in the right window, double-click Enableprefetcher, and in the Open DWORD Value Editing window, Windows XP can be read-ready:

Set this value to "0", that is, to cancel prefetching, set to "1", the system will read only the application, set to "2", the system will read only the Windows system files, set to "3", the system will read the Windows system files and applications. Generally we set this value to "2", of course, if your computer is configured very high, you can also set the value to "3" to speed up the system running.

We can also make a batch program on our own to delete the "Windows\prefetch"   hot ectoplasms on each boot, ㄒ  Huan 狣 file, and then open it with Notepad, add the following content:

Del%systemroot%\prefetch\*.*/q

The "/q" argument is when you delete the global wildcard character without requiring confirmation, and of course you can use other parameters, such as the "/F" parameter, to force the deletion of a read-only file. Then save the file and remember to select all files in save type in the Save dialog box. Place it in the Startup group.

1, to speed up Network Neighborhood XP access to the Network neighborhood is quite annoying, the system will search its own shared directory and can be used as a network share of the printer and planning tasks and network-related tasks, and then displayed, it is obvious that the speed will be much slower than the windows9x. In fact, these features we do not use, rather than do not have to delete them, so the speed will be significantly faster. Open Registry Editor, locate Hkey_local_machine/sofeware/microsoft/windows/current version/explore/remotecomputer/namespace, and delete the {2227a280-3aea-1069-a2de08002b30309d} (printers) and {D6277990-4C6A-11CF8D87-00AA0060F5BF} (Scheduled tasks), restart your computer, and visit your network Neighborhood again, you'll find a lot quicker.

2, reduce the boot scroll time XP, blue scroll bar have to embark on several times, in fact, here we can also reduce its scrolling time to speed up the start. Open Registry Editor to find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory management\ Prefetchparameters, find the Enableprefetcher primary key on the right, change its default value of 3 to 1, so that the scroll bar scrolling time is reduced.

3, speed up the boot

When shutting down in XP, the system sends a message to the running program and remote server, telling them that the system is shutting down and waiting for a response before the system starts shutting down. Speed up the boot, you can set the automatic End task, first find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, the Autoendtasks key value set to 1; Then there is a "hungapptimeout" under the branch, Change its value to "4000 (or less), default to 50000; and finally find Hkey_local_machine\ system\currentcontrolset\control\, Also set the waittokillservicetimeout to "4000", and by this setting the shutdown speed is considerably faster.

4, remove the menu delay

In order to achieve visual realism, the menu in Windows XP will have the effect of slipping out when it is opened, but this will also slow down the opening speed. We can find the "Menushowdelay" primary key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, change its value to "0" to remove the menu delay effect.

5, improve the broadband speed XP by default to retain 20% of the bandwidth, in fact, this for our individual users is not what role. In particular, it is better to make full use of it than to be idle.

Enter gpedit.msc in Start → Run to open the Group Policy Editor. Find "Computer configuration → admin templates → network →qos Packet Scheduler", select "limit to retain bandwidth" on the right, select "Properties" to open the limit to retain the Bandwidth Properties dialog box, select "Disable". This frees up the reserved bandwidth and is useful for friends on the Internet.
