I. Existing Environment
First, add the Windows 2008 server that is well established to the original WINDOWS2003 domain environment.
The existing Active Directory role is currently on a Windows 2003 server.
Second, upgrade the Active Directory structure
On any DC in the WINDOWS2003 domain environment (preferably the schema master), copy the Sourceadprep subdirectory under the Windows2008 CD to the hard drive and execute it under cmd: Adprep/forestprep, adprep/ Rodcprep and Adprep/domainprep/gpprep.
Adprep stored path
Perform forest preparation work on an existing DC
Press the C key to continue the operation
The program starts executing, updating the original Active Directory schema
The program completes, prompts the success, if has the error, may view the log.
To perform the RODC and domain preparations again
After these three steps are complete, you are ready to migrate the Active Directory to Windows Server 2008.
Iii. Configuring the Windows Server 2008 DC
In the Run menu, enter: dcpromo, open the Configuration Wizard
Click Next in the Welcome wizard prompts
Because you upgraded the migration under an existing domain (Windows 2003), you chose to extend a single domain controller.
Select the domain to which you want to join.
If you are not using an administrator login, set up users and passwords with sufficient permissions.
Choose to join the server under that domain.
Put this server on that site.
Whether to configure DNS and make this server a GC.
Whether to increase this DNS server in an existing domain environment
Enter a password for the recovery or uninstall operation.
Confirm all information for this server and click Next to start configuration.
The data in the original Active Directory is synchronized.
DC Configuration Complete
takes effect after reboot.
The KCC is also automatically configured, which is the Windows 2008 control Interface
The original Windows 2003 interface, you can compare.
Iv. Active Directory Restore
You can use a GUI or command line to capture a role
After winning the seizure, all roles have been serviced by Windows 2008来.
Note: Because the existing domain also has a Windows 2003 server, the Windows 2008 Active Directory level cannot be displayed, and when 2003 servers are removed, you can upgrade to the Windows 2008 functional level.
As a network administrator, master server-related skills is essential, and the migration server can not be underestimated, the above-mentioned introduction from the windows2003 to windows2008 system, although the steps are troublesome, but each step is critical, can not be ignored.
