Many users have recently installed SQL Server2008 on WINDOWS2003 Server 32-bit operating systems and have always failed with a number of errors. Preparatory work:

First you need to download the following software

1.Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable-Simplified Chinese

(Note: This is the SQL Lite version is also free version, is the SQL main program)

4.microsoft®sql server®2008 Management Studio Express

Download the selection: Sqlmanagementstudio_x86_chs.exe

(Note: This is the SQL Connection tool, equivalent to the SQL2000 Enterprise Manager)

Description: Usually we download the complete SQL2008 installation package contains the above software, here is to install the software in step, instead of using the SQL2008 installation package to install directly, so you need to download these software, ready for the above four software, ready to install the above four software can be installed. (Test windows2003 Enterprise Edition 32-bit operating system, so download x86 framework software, if it is windows2003 64-bit operating system, download the corresponding 64-bit installation software should also be able to)

First, the preferred installation of Windows Installer

This is equivalent to a system patch, installation is very simple, just double-click the installation file, click Next to complete. As below

(Need to restart server after installation is complete)

Ii. Installing Windows PowerShell 1.0

The installation steps are also simple, double-click to open the installation software, click Next to finish. This patch installation does not require a restart.

Third, install the Microsoft SQL Server SP2 Express Edition Service Pack 2 database main program.

1. Double-click to open the installation software Sqlexpr_x86_chs.exe as shown:

This is the SQL2008 installation Center interface, below we just install according to the steps, click on the Left "installation" option such as:

Select the first new installation SQL2008, the system starts to detect, such as:

Test complete, click OK, enter and next. Such as:

Because we use the free version, here is not to change, here is for the Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition and other input products purchased serial number, we directly click Next, such as:

Setup support files, click Install, the software starts to install, to be installed after the end, such as:

Now that all the installation support files have been detected, click "Next" to continue installing SQL Server 2008

2. After passing through the above steps, proceed to install SQL below, where we select the appropriate components to install, such as:

function selection, such as red box, generally as long as tick the instance function can be checked, if the sharing function, it is recommended that the following shared features directory changed to non-system disk.

After selecting, click "Next" to continue the installation, such as:

Select "Default Instance", you can also customize the instance name after selecting "named instance" change, the instance root directory, the proposed modification to non-system disk, such as C: to D:, continue to click Next:

Disk Space requirements details, click Next to continue the installation, such as:

Here the account name, we select the system user or Administrator administrator account, click Next, such as:

Account settings, select Mixed mode and set the SA password, press the SQL Server administrator click below to add the current user.

Database related directory is recommended to modify the non-system disk, such as D: disk, after the change click Next to continue installation, such as:

After detection, click Next to continue the installation, such as:

Preview the installation information, click Install, and the software starts to install.

At this point, SQL 2008 has been successfully installed.

But in order to manage and operate the database, we also need to install server®2008 Management Studio Express, depending on the installation steps below

Iv. installation of server®2008 Management Studio Express

1. Double-click Open Sqlmanagementstudio_x86_chs.exe to install the software, enter the installation interface.

Also enter the SQL installation center, still click on the new SQL Server installation,

2. Enter the detection interface, and then click "Next" to proceed with the installation.

3. Install the program support files, click Install, then click "Next" to continue the installation

4. Select the type of installation, such as:

Select Perform a new installation, click Next to continue Installation

5. Product Key, not selectable, directly click "Next" to continue. (figure)

6. License Terms, tick accept, continue to click "Next" (picture)

7. Function selection, such as:

instance function, tick "Administrative Tools-Basic". Click "Next" to continue the installation.

8. Click Next until the installation is complete.

After installing according to the above steps, SQL 2008 can be used normally under the WINDOWS2003 32-bit operating system.

We manage the database through SQL Management Studio, open method: Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > SQL Server Management Studio

(If the server name is empty, you can fill in 127.0.0.1 or localhost)

Summary: After the installation of the above steps, basically the installation success rate can reach 95%, if the installation process will also error, it is recommended to completely uninstall the previous version of the installation, and manually delete the SQL installation directory, restart and then follow the above method to install. Although this method needs to install several scattered software, but the installation files are very small, combined with less than 400M, and the full enterprise version of the SQL 2008 installation file is larger than 2G, and installed in the WINDOWS2003 system will always appear such a mistake.
