Internet: Allow RAS interfaces as NAT-specific interfaces

Prior to Beta 3, RAS clients connected to Windows. NET Server (network address translation (NAT) access to the Internet and dial-up access to the corporate network) could not use this server to reach the Internet. Beta 3 allows users to access the Internet through this type of access point.

Beta 3 provides the ability to integrate firewalls with Routing and Remote Access Services (RRAS) and NAT capabilities.

Internet:rras in demand dialing form of PPPoE

This feature provides the option to use Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) on demand-dial networking connections, which allows PPPoE with RRAS NAT functionality. Small companies that connect to the Internet with PPPoE will now be able to create on-demand dial-up connections and route traffic to the Internet.

BITS version 1.5

Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is a background file transfer mechanism and a queue manager. Requests for BITS are committed, and files can be transmitted in a throttling manner so that the interactive user is not affected by bandwidth consumption. Requests are repeatedly disconnected and restarted until the file transfer completes. During the transfer process, it involves requesting the application and informing it that the transfer is complete. This feature enables low priority download operations to be done in the background without affecting the user's bandwidth.

BITS 1.5 adds client support through redistribution, file upload support, and optional advanced upload capabilities. Background file uploads require BITS server applications, which are included in Windows. NET server and can be used to redistribute Windows 2000-based servers.

Internet: NAT transversal using UpnP

This feature provides an application with a way to create port mappings on a local NAT device, such as an Internet connection shared device that supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). ISVs can use this feature to develop applications that create port mappings on UPP-enabled NAT devices, such as Internet Connection Sharing devices.
