Wireless LAN Internet access construction and Configuration

When there is no wired broadband access and no wireless network adapter, the wireless LAN cannot access the Internet. So how can I access the Internet through a wireless lan? That is, how does one achieve wireless Internet access through a wireless lan?

Wireless LAN Access

In the wireless network field, WLAN is the most widely used and promising wireless connection technology. From its name, we can see that it is not a real wireless Internet connection technology, but a LAN wireless connection. Therefore, if a single machine needs wireless Internet access, it must use its own notebook in a hotspot AP with wireless network coverage, for example, the ISP provides hotels, airports, coffee shops, and schools with wireless hotspots. For individual users, there is usually little such economic strength to deploy such a wireless hotspot environment. However, in the family, WLAN technology can also be used to connect to the Internet, but it is no longer the scope of this article, and will be detailed in the relevant articles of this topic.

This Wireless LAN connection is implemented in a "Wired + wireless" way, that is, the Internet endpoint is connected through a wired connection, such as ADSL, HFCs, FTT + LAN and other broadband connections, even common Modem dialing. It is connected to the wireless Internet through a shared wired Internet, as shown in figure 7.

Figure 7

As shown in the following figure, a typical wireless LAN is used for Internet access. The simplified network structure of Internet access in wireless hotspot areas is required. For some users, they only need to install a wireless network adapter that supports WALN to support wireless standards on their laptops, after the driver is installed, you can configure the network through the configuration program provided by the corresponding Nic to share the Internet access provided by the ISP.

Most of the wireless NICs needed for laptops are external, but with Intel's first release of the integrated wireless network adapter module in January March this year, many CIOs now have built-in wireless NICs, therefore, this type of notebook does not need to purchase a wireless network card.

For most laptops that do not have a built-in wireless network card, you can only select an external network card. To meet the needs of different users, there are also a variety of interfaces for this type of wireless network card, such as Type II interface Benq AWL100 Wireless lan pc card, Sony pcw150; USB interface 3COM 3CRSHPW696-CH, AboveCable ACAP2010-11/USB and PCMCIA Interface TP-LINK TL-WN210 +, D-Link DWL-650 +, there are also wireless NICs Intel WPCI2011B and 3COM 3CRWE777A, which are PCI interface types designed for desktops. The price of these wireless NICS is usually around 300 yuan.

At present, WLAN has several mainstream network standards, namely, IEEE 802.11b/a/g. However, with the most mature IEEE 802.11b technology, it can provide a wireless connection rate of 11 Mbps, because it works in the free GHz band, its product price is also the cheapest. IEEE 802.11a is a 5 GHz commercial band that provides wireless connection speeds up to 54qMbps. However, because it is not compatible with the mature IEEE 802.11b series of the product line, its product prices are relatively high, therefore, its actual application is greatly restricted. At present, the latest wireless network standard is IEEE802.11g. Its biggest advantage is that the speed reaches 54 Mbps of IEEE 802.11a, and the free GHz band of IEEE 802.11b is still used in the band, therefore, the product provides both high-speed connection performance of IEEE 802.11a and low price of IEEE 802.11b. It is also compatible with wireless products of IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11A. However, for single-host wireless Internet access, only the wireless network adapter that supports the IEEE 802.11b standard can be used ). So we will first introduce Wireless LAN Internet access here.
