Principle of stepper motor

According to common sense, the wiring of stepper motor depends on the color of the wire. However, the color of the stepping motor produced by different companies is different. Especially foreign stepper motors.

Then, the stepper motor wiring should be made with a multimeter.

 

The internal structure of stepper motor is as follows:

 

 

 

 

We can see that ,~ A is connected, B and ~ B is China Unicom. So, a and ~ A is a group of A, B, and ~ B is a group of B.

Whether it is two-phase four-phase, four-phase five-line, four-phase six-line stepper motor. This is true for internal structures. Whether it is a four-wire, five-wire, or six-wire. It depends on a and ~ Between A, B and B ~ Are there any public-end com connections between them. If Group A and Group B each have a com terminal, the stepping motor has six wires. If the public ends of group A and group B are connected together, the stepping motor has five wires.

 

 

Therefore, to find out how the stepper motor is wired, you only need to separate group A and group B. Use A multimeter.

 

 

4-wire: because the four-wire does not have com public strip, A and B are absolutely insulated and not connected. Therefore, if you use a multimeter for testing, a group is not connected.

 

Five-wire: because of the Five-wire, the public ends of group A and group B are connected together. When a multimeter is used to test the resistance of a thread and several other wires, the thread is the public com end. For the 5-wire stepper motor, the public com end can also drive the stepper motor without connection.

 

Cat6: the com ends of group A and group B are not connected. Similarly, when a multimeter is used to measure the resistance, it is found that one line is the same as the other two lines, so this line is com and the other two lines belong to one group. For the four-phase six-wire stepper motor, the two public com ends can also be driven without first connecting the stepper motor.

 

 

 

Concepts related to stepper motors:

 

Phase Number: Number of exciting coils that generate different pairs of polar N and S magnetic fields. Commonly used M representation.

Number of beats: the number of pulses required to perform periodic changes in the magnetic field, or the number of pulses required for the conducting state to be expressed as N, or the number of pulses required for the motor to turn a pitch angle. Taking a four-phase Motor as an example, there are four phase four beat running mode that is AB-BC-CD-DA-AB, four phase eight beat running mode that is A-AB-B-BC-C-CD-D-DA-A.

Step angle: corresponds to a pulse signal, and the rotation angle of the motor rotor is expressed by θ. θ = 360 degrees (number of rotor teeth J * Number of running beats). Take the conventional second-and fourth-Phase Motor with 50-tooth rotor teeth as an example. The step range of the Four-shot operation is θ = 360 degrees/(50*4) = 1.8 degrees (commonly known as the whole step ), the step range of the 8-beat operation is θ = 360 degrees/(50*8) = 0.9 degrees (commonly known as half-step ).

Positioning torque: The locking torque of the motor rotor when the motor is not powered (caused by the harmonic and mechanical error of the magnetic field tooth)

Static torque: The locking torque of the motor shaft when the motor is not rotated under the rated static electricity. This torque is used to measure the size (geometric size) of a motor and has nothing to do with the driving voltage and power supply.

 

 

Stepper motor drive

To drive the stepper motor, it is nothing more than giving continuous pulses to the Motor Group A and Group B in turn, so that the stepper motor can be driven.

As you can see, to achieve the rotation of the stepper motor, you can use the following two methods:
(1) 8 beats
Eight States: 1. In A and A-positive voltage, B and B-do not allocate electricity; 2. In A and A-positive voltage, B and B-also give positive voltage; 3. A and A-do not give voltage hanging, B and B-positive voltage; 4. A and A-give negative voltage, B and B-positive voltage; 5. A and A-negative voltage; B and B-not suspended; 6. A and A-negative voltage, B and B-negative voltage; 7. A and A-No
The power supply is suspended, and B are negative voltage. 8. A and positive voltage are provided, and B are negative voltage. The power supply is in turn based on the above eight States, you can control the pulse width.

My own experience: I think the two-phase 4-wire motor is similar to the four-phase 4-wire motor. (The figure I drew above) can also be seen, but the physical Winding Method is different (this also leads to different pulse tables on programming), and the function is the same.
