Word Getting Started Tutorial phonetic guide

When we encounter the Chinese characters, we can use phonetic guides to check its pronunciation, or add pinyin to Chinese characters. The steps for using phonetic guides are as follows:

1. Select the Chinese character to view the pronunciation.

2. Execute "format" → "Chinese Layout" → "phonetic Guide". Open the Phonetic Guide dialog box.

3. The selected text has been displayed in the Base text box; The phonetic alphabet box automatically gives the pinyin of each Chinese character, and if you want to annotate a text, you can add it in its phonetic text box.

Note: Phonetic guides can be phonetic for 39 Chinese characters at a time. When the selected text is in 11 (including 11, not including paragraph marks), the Group button in the dialog box is active, clicking to make the selected text in a base text box, and clicking the Word button, there is only one word in the base text box.

4. Click to open the Alignment list to select an alignment for the base text and phonetic Alphabet.

5. Set "offset" to specify the distance between pinyin and Chinese characters.

6. Use the font and font size lists to select the font and character sizes for pinyin.

7. Click "OK" button.

Tips:

1. If you need to remove pinyin, you can select phonetic text, and then click the Delete All button in the Phonetic Guide dialog box.

2. If you need pinyin to appear on the right side of the Chinese character, you can do the following: Select the Chinese character with phonetic Pinyin, and then perform "edit" → "paste selectively" → "unformatted text".

3. Adding pinyin to Chinese characters is implemented using a field, which can be toggled between field codes and field results by ALT+F9.
