Insert a manual page break

1. Click where you want to start the new page.

2. On the Insert tab, in the page group, click Paging.

Prevent page breaks from appearing in the middle of a paragraph

1. Select the paragraphs you want to prevent from being divided into two pages.

2. On the Page Layout tab, click the Paragraph dialog Box Launcher, and then click the Line and Page Break tab.

3. Select the no paging in paragraph check box.

Prevent page breaks from appearing between paragraphs

1. Select each paragraph that you want to keep on a page.

2. On the Page Layout tab, click the Paragraph dialog Box Launcher, and then click the Line and Page Break tab.

3. Select the same page as next check box.

Specify a page break before a paragraph

1. Click the paragraph that you want to be in after the page break.

2. On the Page Layout tab, click the Paragraph dialog Box Launcher, and then click the Line and Page Break tab.

3. Select the pre-paragraph paging check box.

Place at least two lines of a paragraph at the top or bottom of a page

In a professional document, the first line of the new paragraph is not displayed at the end of the page, and the last line of the previous paragraph is displayed only at the beginning of the new page. If you display only the last line of a paragraph at the top of the page, or if only the first line of the paragraph is displayed at the bottom of the page, such a row is called orphan.

1. Select the paragraph to prevent widows and orphans from appearing.

2. On the Page Layout tab, click the Paragraph dialog Box Launcher, and then click the Line and Page Break tab.

3. Select the Widow/Orphan control check box.

Note: This option is enabled by default.

Prevent page breaks from appearing in table rows

1. Click the table row in which you do not want to page. If you don't want the table to be cut off by the page, select the entire table.

Note: Tables that are larger than the page must be paginated.

2. On the Table Tools tab, click Layout.

3. In the table group, click Properties.

4. Click the Rows tab, and then clear the Allow break across pages check box.
