Word2007 How does a document number cells in a table?  Select the table cells you want to number. To number the beginning of each line, you can click the top border of the column or the grid line: The thin line that specifies the boundary of the table cell. Gridlines are not printed with the document. To select only the first column of the table.

On the Start tab, in the Paragraph group, click Number.

Note: To select a different numbering format, right-click a number in the list, point to number, click to define a new numbering format, and then select the options that you want.

If a table cell contains multiple lines of text, Microsoft Office Word 2007 will number each row in that cell
