   To change the chart layout, follow these steps:

Step one: For example, in a Word document, the chart shown in the following illustration is inserted.

Note: The action to insert a chart can refer to the small written "Word2013 How to insert a chart."

Step two: Quickly adjust the layout

(1) Click on the chart and select the chart.

Step three: Quickly adjust the layout

(2) On the Design tab, click Quick Layout, and then select the layout you want in the list, for example, choose Layout 5.

Step four: Quickly adjust the layout

(3) The effect is shown in the following figure.

Step five: Customize the layout

You can set axes, axis headings, chart titles, data labels, data tables, error bars, gridlines, legends, lines, trendlines, up/down bars, and more.

Here's an example of adding a legend to the chart shown above.

(1) Click on the chart and select the chart.

Step SIX: Customizing the layout

(2) On the Design tab, click Add Chart Element, and then select the element you want in the list, such as Select Legend, and then select the legend location.
