to underline text, follow these steps:

Step one: Open the Word document, as shown below.

Step Two: Select the text you want to underline, as shown in the following figure.

Step three: Click the Start-Underline button, and then select the underline you want to set, and you can see the result of the setting, as shown in the following figure.

Step Four: Alternatively, click the Start-underline-Other Underline button, as shown in the following figure.

Step five: Open the Font dialog box, select a line style in the Underline style box, and click the OK button, as shown below.

Step six: Look at the effect of adding underscores, as shown in the following illustration.
