WordNet Research 1: Initial Contact

WordNet is a large lexical database of English. nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs are grouped into sets of cognitive Synonyms (synsets), each expressing a distinct concept. synsets are interlinked by means of conceptual-semantic and lexical relations. the resulting network of meaningfully related words and concepts can be navigated with the browser. wordNet is also freely and publicly available for download. wordNet's structure makes it a useful tool for Computational Linguistics and natural language processing.

WordNetIt is an English dictionary. Because it contains semantic information, it is different from the dictionary in the general sense. WordNet groups them according to the meaning of the entries. Each group of comments with the same meaning is called a synset (a synonym set ). WordNet provides a brief and summary definition for each synset and records the semantic relationships between different synsets.

In WordNet, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are organized into a network of synonyms. Each synonym set represents a Basic Semantic Concept, these sets are also connected by various links. (A synonym appears in the synonym set of each of its meanings ). In the first version of WordNet (marked as 1.x), four networks with different parts of speech are not connected. WordNet's term network was the first to develop.

The backbone of a noun network is the level of the implication relationship (the upper/lower-level relationship), which occupies nearly 80% of the relationships. The top layer of the hierarchy contains 11 abstract concepts, which are called the unique beginners, for example, entities (entity, "Specific existence with or without life "), psychological Characteristics (psychological feature, "Spiritual Characteristics of life organisms ). The deepest layer of a noun layer is 16 nodes.
