WPS Find and Replace feature improves productivity

In the use of WPS is often used in the "Find and replace", for some simple search and replacement may be a lot of people know how to do, but in the face of some more complex to find and replace, it can not. For simple "Find and replace", this article does not repeat, the following describes the advanced "find and replace" the use of it!

About Advanced Find and replace

The "advanced substitution" referred to here refers primarily to the action when using wildcard characters is checked.

Wildcard characters are similar to regular expressions, and use the various combinations of wildcards to accomplish many complex "find and replace".

"Computer" or "computer" or "electronic computer" replaced by "Computer"

Many people may think that this will take three steps to complete, in fact, the use of WPS advanced "find and replace" one step can be completed.

The operation method is as follows:

A. Open the Find and Replace dialog box (CTRL+H), and in the Find What box, enter: "Computer | computer | Electronic computer", in the "Replace with" box, enter: "Computer";

B. Select the Use wildcards check box under Search options, and click Replace All. (pictured below)

Explanation: "|" It means "or" in the wildcard.

Replace "M2" or "M3" with "M2" or "M3"

This question is more interesting and more common. There are two ways to solve this problem:

1, step-by-Step search and replacement method

This approach is a common method for complex lookups: step-and-step narrowing of the scope.

The operation method is as follows:

A. Open the Find and Replace dialog box (shortcut key: ctrl+f), enter in the Find What box: "m[23]", and select the highlight all items found in this range check box;

B. Select Use wildcards under Search options, click Find All (Figure 2), and then click the Superscript button on the Formatting toolbar (shortcut key: ctrl+shift+=, as shown in Figure 3). At this time "M2", "M3" are set to superscript;

C. In the Find What box, enter "M", click Find All, and then click the Superscript button on the Formatting toolbar to make it no longer superscript.

Explanation: The wildcard character "[]" means the meaning of any word in it. If you look for "[Chinese] good", the meaning is to find "middle good", "Good Country", "good people" these three phrases.

The idea of step-by-step search is to expand the scope of the search, and then find and replace the contents of the content to set up, and then use "Find and replace" to restore the content does not meet the requirements of the State before the lookup. This is a conventional approach and a "public" approach.

2, skillfully with the search to replace

Although it is possible to restore by expanding the scope, but this is not the best way to use the search can achieve a better way.

The operation method is as follows:

A. Open the Find and Replace dialog box (ctrl+f), enter in the Find What box: "m[23]", and select Highlight all items found in the range;

B. Select Use wildcards under Search options, click Find All, and then select M2, M3;

C. In the Find What box, enter "[2-3]", select Highlight all items found in this range, select Current selection, click Find All, and then click the Superscript button on the Formatting toolbar only if 2 or 3 is selected, and then the Format tool bar appears.

Explanation: Although there is only one small step difference compared with the first method, the idea is completely different.

Idea: First select a larger range, then narrow the selection, and then use the replacement, obviously this more concise.

To open the Find and Replace dialog box, position the cursor in the Find what box, click the Special Characters button to see the Special characters menu (Figure 6), and click the appropriate menu item, and the corresponding code appears in the Find What box.

Open the Find and Replace dialog box, the cursor positioned to the "Replace with" box, click on "special characters" to see the special character menu, the following figure, click the appropriate menu item, will appear in the Find a text box with the corresponding special symbol.

Three, wildcard characters

The following wildcard character character play a role only if you select Use wildcards, and note that wildcard characters can only be used in the Find what box.

Wildcard characters are more complex, and using wildcards can sometimes represent the same meaning as code ([a-za-z] equals ^$), but wildcards are more flexible and more operable. After remembering the "code" and "wildcard characters", and then flexible use, you can do less!
