WSS extended folder attributes-how to add extended fields to folders

I always thought that the wss3.0 (MOSS) Folder does not support extended fields. All Folders only have a single "name" field, and I have to add a comment or something.

In fact, WSS supports folder extension fields!

There is no essential difference between a folder and a common listitem, except that a folder is a special contenttype. You can see this in the "website content type library" management interface of the site:

With this in mind, we can do the following:
You only need to create a new content type (contenttype), inherit from the folder content type, add the required field, and then add the new folder content type to the document library or list.

Suppose we want to use folders to classify documents. We hope the folder can have a category name and describe two fields. The procedure is as follows:

1) go to the "website content type library" Management Interface (/_ layouts/mngctype. aspx), and clickCreateLink

2) InNew website content typeEnter the document category name on the page. Select a folder for the parent content type.

3) Click OK to go To the content type setting page.

4) Click Add from the new website bar to add a new column with the column name as the remarks

5) return to the document library you want to set and click document library settings

6) Go to advanced settings and enable the content type.
