In XenApp & XenDesktop 7.11, Citrix has greatly optimized the delivery capabilities under HDX 3D Pro, which has mainly enhanced two points:
Support NVidia NVENC technology
New Relative Mouse feature
NVidia's NVENC technology is a video encoding technology provided by NVidia on the graphics card it produces. Its biggest advantage is that it can enable H.264 video decoding from a traditional CPU to a GPU. In fact, the GPU decoding is used to replace the video decoding work that originally required a lot of CPU processing, thereby greatly reducing the consumption of CPU resources. At the same time, compared with the decoding capability of the CPU for H.264, the GPU is inherently more advantageous, so under the same conditions, enabling NVENC technology can theoretically provide a higher frame rate to the picture, and then provide better picture effects .
Speaking of confidence, let's take a look at the test results.
testing platform:
16VMs running across 4 GPUs, at 4 VMs per GPU (GRID Profile: M60-2Q)
#As can be seen from this figure, under the same conditions, the HDX 3D Pro version 7.11 has the server's CPU operating pressure reduced by about 20% after NVENC is enabled.
#Each 3D VDI CPU / MEMORY usage of the main process ctxgfx.exe of HDX 3D Pro has been reduced to a considerable extent, which is also in line with the trend of reducing the CPU resource consumption of the entire physical server.
#And the bandwidth has not increased significantly under these conditions.
Therefore, on the whole, after the 7.11 version of Citrix HDX 3D technology provides support for NVidia NVENC technology, without any adjustments, the 3D user experience on the existing platform will be improved to a certain extent. .
Relative Mouse:
In fact, this term does not have an accurate Chinese translation, the official literal translation is: relative to the mouse
What does the relative mouse do? In fact, it is mainly used to solve the problem that the user feels that the mouse has a lag when using some 3D applications in some 3D projects. The representative of this application is AutoCAD.
Everyone who knows AutoCAD knows that there is a concept of "layers" in the drawing process. The first figure we draw is on the first layer, and then we add layers as needed. In the AutoCAD system, the display of the "mouse" arrow and cursor is actually a separate layer in AutoCAD. This also causes many senior engineers to feel lagging, floating, etc. when using shortcut keys + mouse dragging. root cause.
In order to solve this problem, Citrix specifically defined Relative Mouse for this scenario to try to solve it. So if you have encountered a similar problem with the mouse described above while using Citrix 3D, you can consider enabling the Relative Mouse feature.
Please note: Relative Mouse is only supported in Windows Receiver 4.5 and Linux Receiver 13.4 and later versions, so please upgrade to a new version for testing.
