Microsoft has released the RC preview of Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP1 Two system upgrades, the latter in particular Microsoft's focus, after all, Microsoft does not want to let XP SP3 attract too many users to stay old system, further slowing the popularization of the new system process.
There have been sporadic tests on the performance comparisons of Vista RTM and Vista SP1, and Gizmodo.com's recent tests are relatively comprehensive, involving system performance, multimedia performance, processor performance, network performance, and disk performance.
The tester is an HP xw8600 Workstation computer with a fairly high configuration: two Intel 45nm Xeon X5460 3.16GHz four core processors, NVIDIA Quadro FX 4600 Professional graphics, 15000RPM SAS hard drive, 4GB memory. Tests for XP SP3, Vista RTM, and Vista SP1 are on the system, and the results are summarized as follows:
It can be seen that three sets of systems who fast who slow the problem is not a definite answer, in different cases the difference is quite large. First of all, in the PCMark05 synthesis test, Vista scored significantly higher than the XP SP2, and 15.28%,vista SP1 increased by 0.87% compared to Vista RTM.
Premiere MPEG Video Compression test: Vista and Vista SP1 all take 1 minutes 8 seconds, while the XP SP spent 2 seconds, the gap is largely negligible.
Maxon cinebench R10 test: Vista is 0.46% higher than XP SP2, but Vista SP1 is less than Vista 3 points, although it can be counted as error range, but it can also be seen that Vista SP1 in this regard is not improved; and you can see that XP SP2 's eight core efficiencies are 5.7, while Vista and Vista SP1 are up to 5.76.
The June of the hundred Gigabit LAN file copy test is surprising. The test uses a 1.37GB folder with 2,606 files of different sizes. As a result, XP SP2 only 3 minutes 37 seconds to complete the remote transmission, and Vista takes up to 12 minutes 58 seconds, Vista SP1 is given 15 minutes 41 seconds of "amazing" results.
As we all know, Windows Vista file replication, mobile features are really sorry to users, leisurely "is calculating the remaining time" so many people crazy, and in the network Vista added "remote Differential compression" function, but the result is counterproductive. We are all looking forward to Vista SP1 can be improved in this respect, Microsoft has released a number of upgrade patches, SP1 Beta also embodies a certain effect, but the results of this test is unexpectedly.
The final disk performance test also let Vista lose face: XP SP2 Read and write speed in 120mb/s around, and Vista only 83mb/s, 61mb/s,vista SP1 is only 80mb/s and 53mb/s. These numbers and the top of the network file copy test results are basically consistent, do not know is not vista on the use of high-speed SAS hard disk problems.
Seeing here we could not help thinking of a group of test messages that Microsoft had released, claiming that Windows Server 2008 RC0 's network File transfer rate was 43-44 times higher than that of Windows Server 2003. If so, Vista really needs to learn from server 2008.
