HPE It Information services is actually a test center under the entire IT department, primarily within internal service management and not delivered to the outside world. We have about 1500 systems, and we are responsible for the development, upgrading and maintenance of these systems on a daily basis.
The first was the practice of HPE Testing Center in India since 1996, and the practice of testing Center in Shanghai, China, in 2002. The first thing to do is to do some functional testing, because there are a variety of systems within HPE it, and applications such as Web, SOA, and SaaS are available in the HPE IT environment, so we have a wide range of testing for these systems. By 2003, automation testing technology compared to fire, we began to use a number of tools to do automated test creation, script maintenance and execution, and we on the basis of these software to do some testing tools customized two times to meet internal requirements. When we were 2005, we started to do some performance testing. 2012 we began to do security testing, when HPE acquired a number of companies, one is to do source code scanning, one is to do tools.
Our services from the beginning of the provision of personnel, to the entire test project, we standardize the testing services, and then service pricing, according to the service pricing test services to some colleagues in the IT, and finally we want to provide a quality value-added.
2010, our size has been quite large, the number of Chinese team in four hundred or five hundred people, then China's testing center should be a larger one, we think more mature, so hope to be in line with the industry. At the end of 2014, British experts gave us an assessment, originally we thought of three levels, the results of a week to finish the assessment and the results are particularly good, and we paid two weeks of money, so we want to see four, five can pass, the results are relatively good, there are few direct five-level test center in the world, We passed the level five assessment on January 30, 2015.
We are rooted in China, is the only Test and evaluation team in China, our internal QA experts can do some external services, we hope to share some experience to promote the common development of the whole testing field.
Test the development trend of the Organization
To discuss the development trend of the test organization in our own experience. From a number of dimensions: people, management system, measurement, and so on, in fact, are constantly evolving.
4 times to test the evolution of an organization:
2010 We call it the "1.0 Superman era", the development of chaos without rules and measures, completely by experience to do functional testing, found defects.
2.0 called "Professional testing Era", professional testers and developers separate, probably HP ES is China compared to the CMMI level five certification, testing measurement system is not discussed, mainly in the project level to do some manual collection, management tools are one-way level, automated regression test added a " Increase confidence, which means that the era is not only "discovering flaws" but also "enhancing confidence".
By 3.0 It was the "Test Center Era", where many companies put together testers scattered across every project to form so-called "test centers". The testers of this test center we call "specialized testers", from "professional" to "special" means: what has been done before, and now the test center has this volume, generally our experience is that there will be a dedicated performance testing team and security testing team, there are some other automated test architecture team, The testing industry will be subdivided, and a tree has been set up in every field. Then we started to do some test data collection, at that time we probably have more than 200 projects a year, from the beginning of the project to the final launch. Special tests, performance tests, safety tests have been done a lot, and recently there have been specialized data-testing skills, including some of Mobil's testing skills. Now the test center is basically in the "2.0" or "3.0" era.
4.0 is the direction of our efforts, in this era testers are mixed, with TMMI/TPI, computer-aided management decision-making, Integrated management tools (fusion measurement system), continuous delivery, big data forecasting and testing asset reuse, prevention of defects, to meet user experience, enhance corporate image. The data we collected in the past is primarily about descriptive analysis, but it does not guide decision-making, and the data we get now should help us to guide decisions.
Testing is actually a very interesting career. It connects the user to the left, helps the user to review the quality of the development, and the developer is connected to the right, and the developer needs to test everything. I think the test is more like a crater, and the extension expands continuously. The boss's request will be more and more high, the need for cost control will be more stringent, in fact, the cost is a big consideration, if only in the traditional functional manual testing, his value is relatively low, easy to be replaced, so I think is "inside the crater" even if not spray magma, If there is a lot of rain, many people will be flooded in.
Trends in the development of testers
1, business, many people will do "business expert", because the test has been done for many years, particularly familiar with the system, and even more than the business of the people are still familiar, he is connected to the business and IT system, we see a lot of testers have been as a new product manager, he to set the product demand, because he is most familiar with this
2, technology. Technology from the very beginning to the automation, everything will be automated, because automation will bring efficiency, and now add a "development", because DevOps is not only the development, but also do some tmmi fusion.
3, personnel. People who don't want to be in the crater should have some specialization, such as security testing experts. Our best practice now is tutorial system, that is, this is a very old staff, this is a relatively new staff, may be a lot, because the mobility of employees is relatively large, but we have to continue to maintain knowledge and experience of the heritage. As a result, our old employees become experts and mentors, train new people, and pass on their knowledge and experience so that the entire test organization's ability is not compromised.
4, management. We need to manage transparency, refinement, and intelligence. All it people are doing something new, and it's the nature of the industry that decides to keep up with the times.
