This article explains the Zabbix monitoring of Dell Compellent storage devices through the SNMP protocol.
The monitoring of the idea and monitoring network equipment is the same: first determine whether the device supports SNMP protocol, if supported, the next step to get the device's private MIB library, usually to the manufacturers to obtain or download online. If you do not get the MIB library, the value of the device OID cannot determine the specific meaning, there is no way to monitor. With the MIB library, import into the MiB browser to analyze the meaning of each OID. Finally, the combination of Zabbix monitoring.

After receiving the MIB library with the Dell Storage engineer, the Zabbix monitoring metrics are as follows:

Here are the monitoring methods:
One, storage device configuration SNMP
Dell compellent storage devices have the following two ways to turn on SNMP:
1. Login Enterprise Manager Client Configuration
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s2.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/7B/16/wKioL1bGu0Kxl3A_AAD3MVMF9hE039.png "title=" Snmp1.png "alt=" Wkiol1bgu0kxl3a_aad3mvmf9he039.png "/>
2. Login Web Management address configuration
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s1.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/7B/16/wKiom1bGuwSwSNFoAAELaCIetYo658.png "title=" Snmp2.png "alt=" Wkiom1bguwswsnfoaaelacietyo658.png "/>650" this.width=650; "src=" http://s5.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00 /7b/16/wkiom1bguxtqaa06aacxbiksmcw416.png "title=" Snmp3.png "alt=" Wkiom1bguxtqaa06aacxbiksmcw416.png "/>
After entering the SNMP Server configuration interface, fill in "Read only Community String" and Start Agent, save.
Then test if you can get to the data:
Snmpget-v 2c-c <community string> <management ip>. 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.11000.2000.500.1.2.1.0

Second, the configuration Zabbix
1. Import templates
log in to Zabbix foreground, select Configuration->templates->import, import " Template SNMP DELL STORAGE "template (download see attachment, Support Zabbix2.2 version). The template is prepared according to the MIB library and is configured as follows:
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M00/7B/25/wKiom1bHHgXDegYFAADTeWFV_J0763.png "title=" Template.png "alt=" Wkiom1bhhgxdegyfaadtewfv_j0763.png "/>
The trigger is configured in the template and alarms are triggered when the device status is abnormal.
2. Create a value map
This step is more troublesome, mainly to increase the readability of the monitoring data. Select Administration-> genera l->value Map:

Create the following value map:
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s2.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/7B/24/wKiom1bHFujy2yYLAAAZme82nPo941.png "title=" 1.png " alt= "Wkiom1bhfujy2yylaaazme82npo941.png"/>

650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s1.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/7B/24/wKioL1bHF_bij3-XAAE3ywryooM916.png "title=" 6.png " alt= "Wkiol1bhf_bij3-xaae3ywryoom916.png"/>
3. Configure global Variables {$SNMP _COMMUNITY_DELLSC}
Select Administration-> General ->macros, create the variable "{$SNMP _COMMUNITY_DELLSC}", where value fills in the "Read only COMMUNITY String" configured on the device, such as:
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s5.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/7B/24/wKioL1bHFv2Qce7DAAC95Qnwxxs759.png "title=" Macro.png "alt=" Wkiol1bhfv2qce7daac95qnwxxs759.png "/>
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/7B/24/wKiom1bHGEngx-iYAAArxjIVyx0541.png "title=" snmp3_ copy. png "alt=" Wkiom1bhgengx-iyaaarxjivyx0541.png "/>
4. Create a host
Enter the host Configuration Interface, remember fill in theSNMP interfaces "managed addresses for storage :
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s4.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/7B/24/wKiom1bHDcbyrTxqAAAqKlYuEG8997.png "title=" Qq20160219203928.png "alt=" Wkiom1bhdcbyrtxqaaaqklyueg8997.png "/>
Link "template SNMP DELL STORAGE" templates:
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://s2.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/7B/23/wKioL1bHDTmhNQfoAABedXCMc7E398.png "title=" Qq20160219203829.png "alt=" Wkiol1bhdtmhnqfoaabedxcmc7e398.png "/>
At this point, the entire configuration is over, wait patiently for the monitoring data to appear ~
