ZBrush How to make embossed pattern

1. Find the pattern you want to make on the internet first, or draw it yourself in PS.

2. Prepare a model, here I take a simple flat relief as an example.

3. Because the precision of making patterns using Zapplink Plug-ins is determined by the size of the canvas, we want to modify the size of the canvas. Open the document interface in the menu, click the Duble button, and then click the Zoom Canvas button on the ZBrush right-hand toolbar.

4. Then put the model in place, as far as possible (note: The breakdown of the model as high as possible, otherwise mapping does not go up, or with sawtooth).

5. Open the zapplink[mapping interface in the menu bar document.

When you click the Zapplink button, you will be prompted with the following image, which means that you choose the following pattern:

The first pattern means: Use polygon vertex coloring.

The second pattern means canceling the zapplink mapping.

Here we choose the first mode, after selecting the first mode will pop the Zapplink interface, as shown: double sided mean double-sided, if you want to make both sides of the model, then check this button.

Fade means the default interface parameter.

Enable Perspective use Perspective.

Emphasis: The Set Target app button means: Set the target program. Since Zzapplink is actually a bridge between ZBrush and Photoshop software, let's first specify where the Photoshop program is located.

Clicking on the Set Target app pops up a window.

This window is meant to give you a choice of where Photoshop software is located. Then clicking the prompt again will pop up a location where you want to specify the Photoshop installation directory. You can right-click the Photoshop shortcut property on the desktop and copy something like this: "F:photoshop CS 5Photoshop.exe" pasted into the window that just popped up. This operation is only once done. This feature will not need to be specified again if you use Zapplink again later.

6. Here we use the Zapplink default parameters to make. (PS: The default parameter is enough for us to use) Click Drop Now, as shown.

After clicking on this button, Photoshop software will automatically open, and the software will appear after the current model of your screenshot. Although if you've already turned on Photoshop, it will directly import you as a screenshot of your model into Photoshop software. Screenshot of the layer as shown in the figure, from the layer can be seen two do not edit (no editing), then the two layers are not moving.

Next, drag the pattern you made to the LAYER1 layer. Or create a new layer above the Layer1 layer to draw the pattern you want to make.

After the design is finished, then merge the retention mask down, and then press Ctrl+s directly to save it. Save the location we do not need to control, Ctrl+s will be automatically saved in the ZBrush installation directory Zapplink folder.

7. Then we go back to the ZBrush software. A dialog box like the following figure.

Ok (unchanged): Determine execution; Re-check: Re-examination; Return to external editor: Back to edit in Photoshop software.

Clicking OK (unchanged) will appear as shown in the picture. Then we click Pickup now again, and the color information is mapped to the model.

8. Next we need to convert the color information to masking (mask). Open the masking interface in the tool toolbar, click on the Mask by Color menu, and then tap mask by intensity (Figure a) to convert the color information to masking.

At this time we can not see masking, because it is blocked by color information, we need in the tool toolbar Polypaint, close the Coloryze button (b), you can see masking (c)

9. Then we find the inflate in the deformation menu on the tool toolbar, and the bar that adjusts the parameter to the left or right can squeeze out the pattern.
