Be similar to can be followed by both the main pronoun and the person, that is, be similar to something/sb
Be similar with can only add people behind, that is, be similar with sb

 

For example:

My questions are similar to yours.
Wasps look similar to bees.

Another difference is that be similar to can follow the clause, while be similar with cannot.
