2015 U.S. mobile Internet users will be PC network users

IDC predicts that by 2015 US mobile internet users will surpass those who surf the internet via PCs or other wired devices.  As smartphone use began to outpace functional handsets, and tablet sales surged, the average annual composite growth rate for mobile internet users reached 16.6% between 2010 and 2015. IDC predicts that the popularity of smartphones, especially tablets, will push users who surf the PC online for the first time to stall and then slow down.  This trend will soon follow in Western Europe and Japan after the United States. Comment: When smartphone shipments overtook PCs for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2010, the number of mobile internet users was predicted to overtake PC Internet users in the future. But for many PC vendors, the sooner the day comes, the better it will be to give them a little more time to find a new direction.
