It looks like a special effect in the studio, but it's not. This is a project by Professor Hiroshi Ishii of the MIT Media Lab, who designed a surface that can be reconstructed in real time for 3D. As you can see, not only does it run very smoothly, but it also works well ...
Designer John Maeda has uploaded a video of his Blog showing how the system made by Ishii and his students works. A camera that can capture moving objects and 3D objects. A computer handles 3D information and transmits the information to a cylindrical surface that can "replicate" objects and move. In the following GIF, you can see that it subtly duplicates a pair of hands that are in motion, and that the 3D is dragging a small ball in the palm, and looks like it is in the real hand.
In a working environment where collaboration is needed, this is a new option that can replicate models, maps, objects, and so on in a remote way. If not, these particular sights are certainly surprising.
