Summary

If you install the WIN2003 server version as a VPN server, you can assign a static IP under the user properties. If you use another Win operating system as the VPN server, you may need to create and retain DHCP.
If the VPN client cannot find your server, or cannot ping your computer name, you may want to add DNS and WINS to the VPN server. For example, to add DNS and WINS to Cisco Firewall PIX, add the "vpdn group 1 client configuation dns dns+ (server name)" code and "vpdn group 1 client configuration wins wins server name".
If you let the w2k/xp professional system as the domain controller, you will see an option "log in with dial-up connection" on the login interface after creating the VPN/dial-up connection. In the login to Windows dialog box, the user can check the dial-up connection. After clicking Confirm, you can use the network connection immediately.
