Sina Science and technology news Beijing time November 29 morning, Acer founder Shih Although temporarily powers, but he is not ready to steer Acer for a long time, but hope to find a new president soon, and next June before the appointment of new chairman. The return of Acer founder Shih last week was reminiscent of the two notable founders of the PC industry, Steve Jobs's return to Apple and Michael Dell. But unlike Apple and Dell, the 69-Year-old Shih is not ready to steer the beleaguered PC maker for long. In Thursday, Acer spokeswoman Henry Wang said Acer plans to look for a new president "as soon as possible" and will then find a new chairman by June next year. Shih powers, both of Acer's former chairman, Wang and President Wong, who abruptly left the record losses last week. Taiwan's media are speculating on the candidates for Acer's new chairman, including Acer co-founder Siu, who returned with Shih this month. A spokesman for the Acer declined to comment on the chairman's candidate, but said the final decision would be made before the board meeting next June. Shih did not disclose a detailed recovery plan, but this week he told local media that it was ready to make more concrete plans within a month or two. He also disclosed that unlike Michael Dell, he was not prepared to privatize Acer and expected it would take 3 years for the company to fully revive. A spokesman for Acer also confirmed Shih's comments. In the past two years, Acer has been in turmoil, facing falling demand for laptops and poor growth in new areas such as tablets and smartphones. Acer, once the world's second-largest PC maker in 2009, is now losing its edge on mobile devices because of netbooks. The record net loss of NT $13.12 billion in the third quarter, which is about $444 million trillion, fully exposes the problems that have accumulated in the past, mainly from write-downs and the value of asset purchases, including Gateway and Packard Bell. Earlier this month, Acer also announced a reorganization that would cut the cost of 7% to $100 million a year. (Ding Macro)
