According to foreign media reports, Actian Company, formerly known as Open Source company Ingres, will provide Australian users with the development of a smartphone based BI (business intelligence) application cloud platform in the first quarter of 2012, with smartphones mainly for iOS and Android systems.
By then, developers will be able to use the platform to create iOS and Android utilities that can analyze a variety of data, and they can also define triggers for priority data, but are delivered when data events occur.
Jason Leonidas, vice president of the Actian company responsible for sales and service, said the cloud service was not available at this time because of the need to wait for customer login services including Qantas Airlines, Melbourne Port company, etc. The platform will be open as early as the first quarter of next year.
Users of this cloud platform will include the types of independent software developers (ISVs), end-users, system integrators, and others who can develop their own application tools on the platform.
Currently, the company has more than 400 partners, including Qantas Airways, which use the Ingres database system to run critical service support.
