Afghan President Hamid Karzai was shedding tears in public speeches 28th, given the large number of children and young people fleeing their homes as a result of frequent violence.

Karzai said the Afghan government hopes to raise the literacy rate to 75% in 2020, allowing most students to receive schooling safely.

Called the Taliban "compatriots"

In his speech on 28th, Mr. Karzai spoke in particular about relations with Taliban militants.

He called the Taliban "my compatriots" and wanted them to "stop attacking schools and killing innocent Afghan civilians, not to sabotage their own land and to benefit others".
