After 10 consecutive quarters of recessions, HTC has finally made a profit. HTC officially released its second-quarter earnings as of June 30 this year. The quarterly revenue of NT $65.06 billion (hereinafter), combined tax before net profit of 2.76 billion yuan, operating profit of 2.43 billion yuan, after tax net profit of 2.26 billion yuan, the net profit of 2.74 yuan per share. The turnround was expected, and HTC executives interpreted Q1 's earnings as M8 's announcement boosted the two-quarter performance and then achieved full-year profits.
But HTC is still far from opening the champagne, data from ComScore, a third-party market research agency, suggests. HTC's share of the smartphone market in the US continued to fall in May this year, approaching 5%. Compared with the previous two quarters, the U.S. smart machine market is stable, the only variable is LG more than Motorola became the third largest smartphone brand.
