Agilent and Catr (TMC) will work together to develop LTE MIMO technology

Agilent Technology (Agilent Technologies) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the China Telecom Research Institute (Telecom Weights and Measures Center), Catr (TMC). The two sides agreed to collaborate on testing research on LTE MIMO aerial download (OTA) technology.

Catr (TMC) is a non-profit, legal public organization under the Ministry of Industry and Information technology, which is mainly responsible for the development of national public metrology standards and telecommunications standards, LTE MIMO OTA standard, is Catr (TMC) for the wireless industry, one of the standards.

Agilent and Catr (TMC) have prioritized the development of MIMO OTA technology, and they will use the innovative LTE MIMO OTA two-phase test method and draw on both advantages and expertise. Agilent has considerable knowledge and experience in wireless test solutions, MIMO OTA test solutions, and MIMO OTA performance simulations, while CATR (TMC) has accumulated years of expertise in OTA test standards and OTA certification testing.

A working group of researchers from both sides plans to develop a two-phase MIMO OTA test system at the OTA Laboratory of Catr (TMC) and use the two-phase test method based on Agilent's test instruments to perform the measurements. Catr (TMC) will open up their lab resources and provide professional technical support, providing an opportunity for researchers at the Agilent Beijing Research Laboratory to develop OTA testing techniques and methodologies.

The Working Group agreed to conduct a joint study in the CATR (TMC) testing laboratory and to send the findings to standard organizations such as 3GPP, CTIA and CCSA (China Communication Standards Association) as recommendations for new and more effective testing methods and procedures. In addition, Catr (TMC) and Agilent also intend to jointly publish their MIMO OTA research in international conferences and through trade or industry associations. This joint study by Agilent and Catr reflects the firm determination of Agilent to successfully drive LTE technology in China and global markets.
