Beijing time September 24 morning news, according to foreign media reports, AMD Thursday, said the company lowered its third-quarter revenue forecasts. AMD expects third-quarter revenues to fall 1% to 4% from the 1.65 billion dollar in the second quarter, due to weak notebook sales, particularly in Western Europe and North America. AMD expected third-quarter revenue to rise more than in the second quarter, a forecast that matches seasonal trends. Analysts expect AMD's second-quarter revenue to be 1.72 billion dollars. AMD's competitor, Intel, has also downgraded its third-quarter performance forecasts, as personal PC sales in the company's Back-to-school season were less than previously expected. Analysts say worries about the state of the economy have led many individual consumers to cut back on technology spending. (Tangfeng)
