In today's conference call with investors and the media, AMD Board Chairman Brousse Clavlin (Bruce Claflin) announced that Courville was appointed as the new chief executive of AMD, mainly because "AMD has always wanted a chief executive who can lead the company to a higher level." However, in today's conference call, Courville tight-lipped, no mention of the details of AMD's future development plan.

Asked about its specific work plan for the next 100 days, Courville said it wanted to "really spend some time understanding the business as a way to lay a solid foundation for future development and to engage clients and partners to better communicate information." ”

Courville is really concerned about the PC business, claiming that the PC market is a core industry that will continue to expand. Despite the recent erratic volume of PC shipments in the U.S., Courville is optimistic about the market and confident about the prospects for emerging markets.

"In emerging markets, where the population is 4.5 billion, there is no particular technology in the market other than smartphones and mobile phones," says Courville. AMD will have huge business opportunities in these markets. ”

Courville also mentioned other development strengths and features of AMD, such as Fusion APU and bulldozer chips. Courville also plans to further expand servers and cloud computing products, as the prospects for some products are still growing.

On the product side, Courville said it would work more with laptops and game-maker manufacturers. When asked about Tablet PCs, AMD said it had plans to participate in the Windows 8-supported Tablet PC business.
