PopCap representative, including "Plants vs Zombies" and "Gem Bejeweled" and other popular games, American game maker PopCap logo Sina Science and technology news Beijing time of June 23, according to several sources said that the United States game maker PopCap will be acquired, The price it buys may be as high as $1 billion trillion. PopCap is a world-renowned casual gaming manufacturer whose masterpiece includes "Plants vs Zombies" and "Gem Bejeweled" and other popular games. Yet the buyer's information is not yet disclosed. But it is widely speculated that the acquirer should be a well-known social gaming manufacturer, Zynga, because Zynga last year made a series of acquisitions related to the game industry. But other people familiar with the matter said that while Zynga did intend to buy PopCap and worked hard and negotiated, it may have abandoned its takeover plan for Zynga because it was unable to accept PopCap's sky-high takeover offer. It is understood that PopCap's current annual total revenue of about 100 million U.S. dollars to 150 million U.S. dollars-and up to 1 billion U.S. dollars in the purchase price equivalent to its annual total revenue of 10 times times, this may be sky-high for Zynga. So if the acquirer is not Zynga, what company will it be? Other people familiar with the matter said that the acquirer would be the electronic gaming industry giant Electronic Arts (Electronic Arts), although the acquisition price for the company is still a very small number (Electronic Arts industry market value of about 7.49 billion U.S. dollars). But the news says the electronics industry has a precedent for acquiring start-ups: In 2009, the Electronic Arts industry bought Playfish, a casual game maker, in the form of revenue outsourcing, with 400 million of dollars. Another potential acquirer would be an Asian company trying to break into the American gaming market. The idea is more or less the same as the October 2010 Japanese social game developer Dena spent more than 300 million dollars on acquisitions of iphone game maker Ngmoco. One of the potential acquirers will be China's Tencent, which has a very high market capitalisation (and some of its own gaming businesses). But there are other potential possibilities. There have been reports that PopCap plans to make an IPO later this year. The company raised 22.5 million of billions of dollars in October 2009. (linjing)
