According to foreign media reports, the latest report published by Juniper Research, a market researcher, says global mobile operators are expected to reap a significant reduction in customer churn through the adoption of large data and analytics technology, which amounts to an annual increase of nearly $4 billion trillion in revenue by 2018.
The report found that the enablement of the analysis platform enabled operators to anticipate customer churn and take precautionary measures to reduce revenue loss.
Some leading network operators have found that the level of customer churn has been significantly reduced after the analysis platform was enabled, the report said.
The report takes South Africa's largest telecoms operator, MTN, as an example. The operator deployed a large data plan in 2012, combining user information and social networking analysis to identify priority users and customer networks. MTN's subsequent study found that the average customer turnover rate fell by more than 20% per cent.
Keith Bride, author of the report, Keithbreed: "While the reduction in customer churn varies significantly between countries and carriers, mobile network operators (MNO) with large prepaid subscribers are likely to reap the maximum benefit. By controlling customer structured and unstructured data for the first time, emerging market operators can learn more about their customers ' movements than ever before. ”
The report also found that reducing customer churn was a major benefit for emerging market operators, while in more developed markets such as the US, cspirewireless also used customer loyalty programs to analyze them to improve user retention.
