Confessions from an anonymous entrepreneur:
In the summer of 2011, I suddenly had a plan. As long as I awake, I kept thinking of this plan. Every night I will think of it asleep. I was eager to implement this plan so that I could not concentrate on doing other things.
At that time, I was a full-time employee of a company and I did not like the job, but I must insist. I am divorced, married once again. My wife has no job and looks after our three children at home. This means that I am the only source of income in the family and, more importantly, that my family will lose medical insurance if I do not work.
If I wanted to quit my job at the time to start a business, I would have to do one of the following: 1. Profit. Get financing. 3. Convince my wife.
However, none of these three things is easy to do.
1. Profit: You have to have a product for profit. If you are a technician, this may not be too difficult thing. If you have money, you can also ask others to help you make products. Unfortunately, I have neither the technology nor the funds. Although I already have the idea of the product, but it is impossible to turn it into a perfect product in a short time.
2. Access to finance: Access to finance also requires a product. And you have to deal with a large number of investors, which require a lot of time.
3. Convincing my wife: Honestly, all plans are bad plans without family support. Yes, entrepreneurs need to learn to take risks, but not family members. This is not an adventure, but an indifference. Please forgive me.
How should I be good?
As a man over 30, my youth is gone. So I decided, absolutely can not miss this opportunity.
Here's my solution. I did not quit my job right now, but instead started my own business:
1. Find a friend who knows technology.
2. I borrow money from these friends and convince them that I will be successful.
3. Promise they will not consume too much energy for my product development efforts.
4. Use WordPress to do a web page, let users register, and introduce them to my product.
5. Get in touch with all the media I know. Start with those smaller ones.
6. Needs all possible cooperation opportunities.
7. Call the investor at lunch break and after get off work, and pray to God Investors will not ask if I am starting a full-time business.
My efforts have been effective. Within three months, I started my business while still working, but we've got nearly 20,000 registered users. In addition, we have partnered with well-known media such as Thrillist and USA Today. Investors finally willing to meet with me.
A few months later, I quit my job, started a full time venture, and started to pay myself. I wrote my story to tell all like me, no technical background, need to feed their families, but want to start a business, do not give up your dreams. Do not let wait for the waste of time. Do not let the challenge keep you from moving forward.
