This paper expounds the harm of volcanic ash cloud to natural environment and aviation safety; taking volcanic ash cloud remote sensing monitoring platform as an example, this paper systematically introduces the development of remote sensing sensor type and monitoring method of volcanic ash cloud remote sensing, and reviews the research foundation of remote Sensing monitoring of volcanic ash cloud in China. and finally, The development of the remote sensing monitoring of volcanic ash cloud is prospected and considered.
