Wang Ruichen "PC market although not dead, but relatively stiff, nothing big change." Intel has worked hard to convince the market and investors that the PC has a future, but we don't think so. "Arm Global President Dud Brown recently said to the first financial daily. So far, Intel has not really walked out of the PC market, with nearly 100% of smartphones and tablets and processor technology coming from arm. ARM's technology has even entered the server, notebook and the current sizzling smart TV. The UK company, which has a revenue of about 600 million dollars a year, is a thorn in Intel's business. At the moment Intel has found a new strategy to launch the Ultrabook lightweight notebook concept, with a common netbook and tablet features. Intel is planning to upgrade the world's 40% consumer notebooks to Ultrabook by the end of 2012, and is now pulling in the promotion of Lenovo, Acer, Dell and other giants. This move but drew arm's ridicule. Dud Brown to this newspaper that over the past few years, Intel's technology has improved, but the processor power consumption has not fundamentally changed, change, and ultimately the PC concept. Intel's technical embarrassment is one of the reasons it has parted with its hardcore partner, Microsoft. When Google led the wave of smartphone and tablet computers with Android, Microsoft began to secretly join hands with arm, buying arm-processor technology last year and urgently developing a system to support the latter. The day before yesterday, Microsoft unveiled Windows8, announcing support for both Intel and arm. This is seen as a sign of further disintegration of the Wintel Alliance. If Intel is unable to upgrade its technology quickly or accelerate its industrial alliance layout, it is likely to miss a new round of mobile internet growth opportunities. Intel apparently knew it could not block Microsoft from embracing arm, and it seemed to be on guard. Earlier, it had worked with Nokia to develop Megoo operating system, but the poor promotion has now become a chicken. Share to:
