July 19, according to Microsoft News, at least 200 million PCs will be sold before the Windows 8 system is released.
The data is interesting because it clearly confirms the presumption that the Windows 8 system will be released in the first half of 2012, rather than the second half of the 2012 year that was originally guessed.
At last week's 2011 Global Partners ' Conference (CSM Partner Conference), Steve Gugenheimer, vice president of Microsoft's original equipment manufacturer (OEM), discussed Microsoft's relationship with the original equipment manufacturer.
The partnership with OEM partners allows Microsoft to sell sales of at least 200 million PCs before the Windows 8 system is released, the Guggenheim said.
In stark contrast, according to Gartner, a market-research institute, global PC shipments will exceed 400 million by 2011.
Data from Microsoft show that since the Windows 7 system was released in 2009, more than 400 million of Windows 7 systems have been sold, with sales of around 200 million per 10 months.
