At least half of AMD's global capacity is expected to be packaged in China by the end of this year.

The company announced in China that with its completion of the second phase of its packaging and testing plant in Suzhou, its packaging capacity will account for at least half of AMD's global capacity by the end of this year, and its determination to further highlight the Chinese market for AMD's strategic layout.

AMD's factory in China will have the ability to encapsulate and test the central processing unit (CPU), graphics processor (GPU) and Acceleration Processor (APU), and will increase the speed of AMD products in the global market, said Deng, AMD's senior vice president and AMD's big China region. Shorten the delivery time, improve AMD's service quality and response speed to China and the surrounding market, thereby enhancing AMD's market competitiveness. AMD will provide hundreds of jobs, including operators, technicians, engineers and managers, as new plants are put into use.

As one of the fastest-growing countries in the world and the second largest IT market, China has become the focus of AMD's global strategic map, according to the briefing. AMD has been expanding its investment in China since 1993 and has completed a fully functional architecture including manufacturing, research, marketing, customer support services, and become an important engine for AMD's global business. AMD said it will expand its research and development efforts in China in the future, expand its cooperation with local institutions, improve its assembly and production capacity in China to support the global market, and will provide more sales, service and support to the Chinese market, especially in the western part of China. AMD said it hopes to transfer more technology to the Chinese side in the future to enhance the independent innovation capability of China's engineering and technology industry.
