ATM with XP system is a big problem: A text message can make it crazy. Security technology maker Symantec recently disclosed a loophole in ATM machines that hackers can use to send text messages to crack ATMs to steal cash. According to Symantec, criminals will use a malicious software called Ploutus. The ploutus can easily be uploaded to an ATM machine via CD-ROM or USB. The first step: the ATM machine Chassis lock pry open, or directly on the chassis drilling hole (since all pry open, why not direct ...) And then use a CD-ROM or USB upload to install the malicious program ploutous. Step two: Use USB cable to connect a special mobile phone, so that ATM machine and mobile phone share network connection. Step three: Send a specific text message to the phone. The message will be transferred to the ATM by the mobile phone that mimics the note-issuing instruction, and Ploutus then calls NPM inside the ATM machine to retrieve and process the packet. Step Fourth: Grab your pockets and wait for the ATM machine to spit the money. There are some simple and effective ways to avoid such vulnerabilities, such as blocking from USB or CD-ROM through software encryption, or stepping up protection from the peripheral hardware of ATM machines to increase monitoring. With around 90% of the world's ATM machines still using Microsoft's Windows XP system, Microsoft has reduced its support for XP since last year and will end it completely April 8 this year, leading to greater risk for banks ' ATM machines. Symantec engineer Daniel Regalado that upgrading to Windows 7 or a high operating system can help improve security.
