Australia and Japan sign 82 billion-dollar gas supply agreement

Xinhua Sydney December 6, AP Chevron oil Company and Tokyo Electric Power company recently signed a value of about 82 billion dollars of the agreement. Under the agreement, TEPCO can buy 4.1 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas a year for 20 years from Chevron Oil company.  Chevron Oil company's liquefied gas resources are from Australia. Australian State Of Western Australia Governor Colin Bannett 5th told reporters that the agreement could become Australia's largest export contract to date.  The signing of the agreement, he said, shows what the Australian economy is going through: Australia is positioning itself as the main LNG supplier of the Asian economy. The agreement also stipulates that TEPCO will purchase 11.25% per cent of Chevron's Wheatstone project on the northwest coast of Australia.
